George Jefferson
Posted on June 9, 2008 at 02:41:16 PM by Marita

In the will of George Jefferson 1780, he names his children and an unborn child his "wife is big with". I

am trying to find that child.

His wife was Elizabeth Garland, and she may have remarried about 1784 to George Wapole.

Are there any early church records which might show this child's birth?

Where did George Wapole take the family?

Any leads will be appreciated.

I am wondering if this unborn child is Thomas Jefferson who is on the 1810 Northampton Census.

Wood/Faison family
Posted on April 2, 2008 at 09:33:12 PM by Linda Wood Stewart

Hi Can anyone provide any information regarding William A. Wood, born 1816 in NH County, married Mary Faison of NH Co and moved to TN in 1846? I'm particularly trying to find information on William's ancestors. As best I know now, William's father was James H. Wood, his father Henry A. Wood, his father Joseph Wood, and his father another James H. Wood. The eldest James Wood was born in 1690 (going back a long way!) I'm not certain if he was actually born in NC, but he died there. This Wood line was in NH County for a long time - until William moved in 1846. I have further information I can provide for verification if anyone thinks they might know anything about these particular Wood gentlemen. Thanks so much for any clue!

Biblical Recorder 28 March 1846 p. 3 ANOTHER OLD SOLDIER HAS FALLEN!!! Died, on the 8th, inst., at his residence near Jackson, Northampton County, Mr. Rhodes Barkley, in the 85th year of his age. Our dear old brother has descended to the tomb as a "shock of corn fully ripe." He was born 12th Dec, 1760, and at an early age was called upon to aid his oppressed country in the war of the Revolution. He lived a long and useful life, beloved by many, and respected by all as an upright and honest man. And he was a soldier in the best of causes: for 50 years he has been a professed follower of the Great Captain of our Salvation; and he has left an example worthy the imitation of the living. For him death had no terrors. With composure and perfect resignation, he saw the approach of the dark angel of the tomb, and summoning up his energies, he called around his dying couch his weeping family and bade them farewell: "Farewell," said the old pilgrim to his disconsolate wife and children, "farewell, I soon shall
