Sep 20, 1997 - 20:38 - From: - Glenda A. ADAMS/HARDEN/HARDIN/HARDING - I am trying to find any information on a Stephne Ola Adams. He was born in 1835. He was a civil war soilder from the 14th North Carolilna Infantry. He married a Sarah Boon in Halifax county in 1865. He also married a Louisa Hardin/Harden/Harding. She was my ggrandmother. Does anybody have any information on the Hardin name. She had one son, who was my grandfather. My grandfather was born in 1878 or 1877. He died in 1947. They were from Roxoboro. I think that they orginally were from Northhampton county. I have extensive information on their family and where they lived. George's son George Jordan later moved to Granville Co, NC and George Sr. followed a few years later. Many of the brothers of George Sr. settled near Fountains Creek in Northamton on the Virginia line. Would like to contact anyone with this family background - especially interested in Harris Gillium and Owen Myrick. Sep 26, 1997 - 21:00 - From: - Bob Jordan MATTHEWS, JARRELL, TURNER, SCOTT, POYTHRESS, PETERS - I am looking into the tri-racial isolate families of Northampton Co. located along River Road near Gaston Lake. Is anyone familiar with the Canal started around 1820 somewhere around Roanoke Rapids and Weldon supposedly by Portugese workmen. I am also interested in any knowledge anyone would have on the now defunct Bethany School whose children were the tri-racial. The school still stands and was closed about 1962 and located near Gaston. Sep 27, 1997 - 12:06 - From: - Bill Kemp |
