HOGAN, PARKER - I am researching the HOGAN family who were living in Northampton Co. in the mid 1700s. WILLIAM HOGAN and wife ANN. Links to CORDELL or SIMMONS families as well as SHEFFIELD. Some researchers believe this family originated in Brunswick Co., Va. and that descendants went to S.C. and GA. I'm have a MARTHA HOGAN, b. circa 1770 who married JOHN PARKER JR. in Hancock or Green Co., Ga. Living near them were JOHN HOGAN AND ISHAM HOGAN. Martha and John Parker named thier first child ISHAM. There were also neighbors nearby named SHEFFIELD. A CORDELL HOGAN wife, CHERRY is in Northampton along with WILLIAM HOGAN. Some researchers believe his name was ISHAM CORDELL HOGAN and that he is the same man who lived in HANCOCK GA. Any information about the HOGAN family who lived in NORTHAMPTON, N.C. would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Dale Grissom

PATTERSON, PEEBLES - Searching for information on the Pattersons and Peebles of Northampton, North Carolina. My information indicates that William Patterson married Hannah Peebles (of Lancaster Co., Virginia) abt. 1730. They later moved to Northampton, North Carolina, where their children were born. Their son William married Keziah, and their son William married Elizabeth Morgan. Uriah Patterson was born to this union in 1785 in Northampton, North Carolina. It is my belief that some of this family migrated to the mountains of Western North Carolina and East Tennessee, but I have no documentation to prove this. My third great grandmother, Elizabeth Patterson, was in the 1850 census for Cherokee County, North Carolina, and she named her son Uriah. Does anyone have more info on these folks? RAGLAND, MERRITT, HUDSON - *Please respond directly to my e-mail address, thanks* I am looking for reseachers who are working on the Stephen Ragland (c1688-1747) family line. I have seen the excellent work done by Charles L. Ragland and hope to expand his work. I am also interested in finding out more on Stephen's wife Mary who is the daughter of John & Elizabeth Hudson of Northampton County. Charles L. Ragland may have mis-identified John and Elizabeth as another couple who remained in Virginia. I am also looking for information on the Merritt family that were early settlers in this area and later in Halifax Co., NC. Evan Ragland (1715-1778) married Amey Merritt who is identified as the daughter of Mary Merrit who died in 1765 in Halifax Co., NC. I have not been able to identify Mary's husband, though the family appears to descend from Charles Merritt progenitor of most of the Merritts in this area. I am also interested in identifying Mary Merritt's maiden name.

PRICE, HARRILL, TAYLOR, CARPENTER - Randall Lewis Price was born 1787 in Rutherford County, NC. He married Sarah Taylor in the same county in 1811. His wife died in 1828 and Lewis Price apparently moved to Northampton County, NC by 1840 where he is listed as Randall Price. Lewis Price next appeared in the 1860 Cleveland County, NC Census and it is possible that he spent the intervening years in Northampton County. Lewis Price had two known sons named James b. 1813 who married Barbara Carpenter in Rutherford County in 1833, and Isaac b. 1823 who married Sarah J. Harrill in Cleveland County in 1843. PEEBLES - Looking for information on Howell Peebles, of Northampton Co., b. 1765 to Robert Peebles and Lucy Bass in Virginia. He moved with his family to Northampton Co. in about 1768. The other children of Robert and Lucy were: Benjamin, Priscilla and Robert, Jr. Howell was married first to Rebecca B. Fos in Greensville Co., Va. in 1789. He was married a second time in 1808 to Hannah Peters Dancy, also in Greensville Co., Va. The children of Howell and his two wives were: John B., Samuel, Mary Ann, Howell, Jr., Robert, Ingram Blanks (my gggrandfather) and possibly others. My dilemna is that I find no census or other records that show that Ingram Blanks and Howell are father and son. Ingram Blanks was born August 11, 1811 in Northampton Co. and went to Williamson Co., Tenn. before April 23, 1833, when he married Minerva A. Scales of Alabama in Williamson Co. Ingram supposedly went to Williamson Co. with his brothers Samuel and Howell, Jr. There is nothing in the research document that is the source of my of information that tells how old Howell, Jr. was in relation to Ingram Blanks. I suspect that Howell, Jr. was the son of Howell, Sr. and his first wife, and that Ingram Blanks was the son of Howell, Sr. and his second wife. It's just a gut feeling. Howell, Jr. went to Williamson Co. about 1817, when Ingram Blanks was a whopping seven years old. It is not necessarily true that Howell, Sr. was still alive at that time, and Ingram may have gone to Tennessee with Howell, Jr. as a younger brother upon the death of the parents. I simply have nothing to support this or any other clues at this time. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who may recognize any of these names. I have left out some things, undoubtedly, but I fear I have gone on too long as it is. I appreciate any help anyone can give me. Sincerely Fred Peebles
