{"id":3501,"date":"2015-03-14T23:41:55","date_gmt":"2015-03-15T04:41:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ncgenweb-data.com\/histnews\/?p=3501"},"modified":"2015-03-14T23:41:55","modified_gmt":"2015-03-15T04:41:55","slug":"ransome-gill-1890","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncgenweb-data.com\/histnews\/ransome-gill-1890\/","title":{"rendered":"GILL, Ransome &#8211; (d. 1890)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mysterious Murder in Franklin County &#8211; Raleigh, NC, January 23 &#8212; A special to the News Observer, from Louisburg, gives an account of a sensational murder in Franklin County night before last. <strong>Ransome GILL,<\/strong> a well-to-do farmer, living about three miles from Franklinton, was a juror in court and was going home from Louisburg in his buggy late in the evening, when he was mysteriously shot. He was found next day six miles from Louisburg with a bullet hole through his head. His horse was found unhitched and tied about three hundred yards away. <strong>GILL<\/strong> was found lying on his face with his overcoat on and both hands in his pockets. The ball had apparently been fired from a 38 calibre revolver. Robbery was evidently not the object of the murder, as <strong>GILL<\/strong> had some money on his person when found.
