Airy February 12, 1915; his life covering a period of a little more than 56 years. \u00a0At the age of 21 he was married to<strong> Miss Flora SICELOFF<\/strong>, of his native county, to which union six children were born; three daughters, <strong>Sardie, Mattie, and Alma<\/strong>; three sons, <strong>James, Oscar, and Bruce,<\/strong> all of whom, with their mother, survive him. \u00a0He came to Mt. Airy about 30 years ago, and engaged in the lumber business. \u00a0He was a pioneer here in furniture manufacturing. \u00a0In this, and other lines, he proved himself a successful businessman.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Being a man of energy and public spirit, his fellow citizens, two years ago, elected him a city alderman. \u00a0In this position he gave a good account of himself.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">His life as a Christian and church man began with his conversion at the age of 18 at Bethany in Davidson county. \u00a0He joined the church at Midway. \u00a0Ever afterwards he was a loyal useful Methodist. \u00a0He has been a member of Central&#8217;s official board for many years. \u00a0Due largely to him and one other the charge has is present parsonage. \u00a0Along with the late <strong>J.H. PROTHER<\/strong>. He was active in securing our present organ. \u00a0He was a friend to the district and the district parsonage, His church appreciated him and honored him by sending him to district and annual conferences. \u00a0At the time of his death he was a member of the Conference board of church extension. \u00a0The writer as well as all our ministers who became associated with him, valued his friendship and counsel.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A successful business man, a progressive citizen, a loyal church man, and a devoted husband and father, he will be greatly missed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The funeral was conducted by his pastor from his late residence, in the midst of a large company, and his body was laid, with masonic honors, to rest in the city cemetery. &#8212; <strong>W.H.
