ZOLLICOFFER<\/strong> and <strong>Miss Nannie B. JOYNER<\/strong> who were to be married at 8 o&#8217;clock. On arriving at the church, the waiters walked up the two aisles to the strains of a beautiful march played on the organ; and after they were arranged around the pulpit like groups of flowers, the groom came in with <strong>Mrs. DAVIS<\/strong> on his arm and was shortly after followed by <strong>Mr. H.J. POPE<\/strong> and the bride. She was beautifully and tastefully dressed in white cashmere and satin, with very long full train, and loopings of clematis flowers on the skirt. Pearls ornamented her face and neck. A handsome wall fastened with orange flowers, hung from her brow to the full length of her train enveloping her and reminding one of an &#8220;angel in a cloud.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Mrs. DAVIS<\/strong> wore black silk with velvet and satin trimmings, cameo jewelry.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> The waiters were<strong> Mr. A.C. ZOLLICOFFER<\/strong> and <strong>Miss Tempe JOYNER<\/strong> with combination suit of white bunting and silk, diamonds.\u00a0<strong>Mr. A. JOYNER<\/strong> and<strong> Miss Grace MOSELEY<\/strong> dressed in ashes of roses, bunting silk trimmings, pearls and gold.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Mr. J.O. BURTON<\/strong> and <strong>Miss Josie NICHOLLS<\/strong>, white tarlatan and blue silk dress, cameo ornaments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Mr. J.H. GOOCH<\/strong> and <strong>Miss Marla LONG<\/strong>, navy blue silk of light blue cashmere and silk, pearls.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>N.M. LOCKHART<\/strong> and <strong>Miss Mamie SHIELDS<\/strong>, white tarlatan, light blue silk and point lace, pearls.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Mr. J.T. POPE<\/strong> and <strong>Miss Agnes SMALLWOOD,<\/strong> bottle green silk and gold ornaments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>R.S. HALL<\/strong> and <strong>Miss Sallie WHITFIELD<\/strong>, white silk grenadine turquoise and pearls.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Mr. J.T. GOOCH<\/strong> and <strong>Miss Bettie WHITFIELD<\/strong>, ecru bunting blue silk, trimming and gold ornaments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>J.M. FOOTE<\/strong> and <strong>Miss Laura POWERS<\/strong>, cream colored bunting, blue silk trimmings, cameo jewelry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>A.L. STAINBECK<\/strong> and<strong> Miss Sadie MELLHENNY<\/strong>, seal brown cashmere threaded with gold turquoise ornaments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>W.R. SMITH<\/strong>, and <strong>Miss Lizzie CAMPBELL<\/strong>, garnet cashmere and coral ornaments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>J.R. WEEKS<\/strong> and <strong>Miss Florence SIMMONS,<\/strong> apple green tarlatan, gold ornaments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>L.M. LONG<\/strong> and <strong>Miss Emma PARKER<\/strong>, white bunting, silk trimmings, coral jewelry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>L.A. FARINHOLT<\/strong> and <strong>Miss Emma LYNCH<\/strong>, stone colored cashmere, gold ornaments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>W.L. LONG<\/strong> and <strong>Miss Lizzie SMITH<\/strong>, white alpaca, silk trimmings, coral ornaments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The descriptions of the dress refer only to the ladies as we had something better to do than writing about the men.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">After the impressive marriage ceremony was concluded all returned to <strong>Mrs. DAVIS<\/strong>&#8216; and danced, drank wine, &amp;c., and had a splendid time until late and the wedding was over.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In drinking the numerous toasts that were pledged to her, the bride drank from a glass which had been in the family for more than a hundred years and which had been used for the same purpose by every bride on the maternal side of the family for a century.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Our best wishes go with the young bride and groom down life&#8217;s journey.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Source: Roanoke News, 27 February 1879, page 3.
