{"id":329,"date":"2013-10-23T20:24:42","date_gmt":"2013-10-24T01:24:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ncgenweb-data.com\/histnews\/?p=329"},"modified":"2013-10-23T20:24:42","modified_gmt":"2013-10-24T01:24:42","slug":"funeral-of-mrs-lacy-1880-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncgenweb-data.com\/histnews\/funeral-of-mrs-lacy-1880-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Funeral of Mrs. LACY (1880)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A very large congregation assembled at Peace Institute yesterday, to pay the last tribute of respect to the late <strong>Mrs. LACY<\/strong>, who had been so loved and respected in life. \u00a0The funeral services were peculiarly appropriate and solemn and were conducted by Rev. <strong>John S. WATKINS<\/strong>, assisted by <strong>Rev. Robert BURWELL<\/strong> and <strong>Rev. Joseph M. ATKINSON, D.D<\/strong>. \u00a0The sermon of <strong>Mr. WATKINS<\/strong> was based on Psalm 17th, and part of the 75th verse: \u00a0&#8220;I shall be satisfied when I awake with thy likeness.&#8221; \u00a0The discourse throughout was beautiful and touching and was listened to with tearful interest by the large assemblage of sorrowing friends. \u00a0The closing address to the young ladies and other scholars of the institute was most timely and eloquent.<\/p>\n<p>The pall bearers were <strong>Messrs. L. E. HEARTT, A.M. McPHEETERS, W.C. STRONCH, E.R. STAMPS, B.R. HARDING, W.S. PRIMROSE and S.W.
