{"id":315,"date":"2013-10-23T05:51:35","date_gmt":"2013-10-23T10:51:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ncgenweb-data.com\/histnews\/?p=315"},"modified":"2014-01-17T01:10:43","modified_gmt":"2014-01-17T07:10:43","slug":"killing-of-john-mcguire-1880","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncgenweb-data.com\/histnews\/killing-of-john-mcguire-1880\/","title":{"rendered":"McGUIRE, John &#8211; (d. 1880)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Statesville Landmark: Two weeks ago we gave an account of the killing of <strong>John McGUIRE<\/strong>, in Ashe county, by <strong>Linville WATERS<\/strong>, and the dangerous shooting, at the same time, by <strong>WATERS<\/strong>, of <strong>Silas McGUIRE<\/strong>. \u00a0This occurred some three weeks since. \u00a0<strong>John McGUIRE<\/strong> died almost instantly after being shot, and for a while it was thought that Silas&#8217; wound would prove fatal, he having been shot through one of his lungs. \u00a0He, however, has recovered. <strong>\u00a0WATERS<\/strong> fled immediately after the shooting, but on Tuesday last surrendered himself to <strong>A.D.
