(d. 1879)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Foul Murder At Middleton, NC. &#8212; We learn from a private letter received by a prominent citizen at Norfolk, that on Thursday night, the 19th ult.,<strong> Jeremiah F. COX<\/strong>, of Middleton, NC., struck his son-in-law,<strong> Thomas W. JENNETT<\/strong>, upon the head with a club, injuring him so badly that he lived but a few hours. \u00a0His skull was so badly crushed the brains being mashed and badly contused. \u00a0<strong>COX<\/strong> was committed to jail to await trial at the May term office County court. \u00a0The murder was an unproved and deliberate one &#8212; Norfolk Landmark<\/p>\n<p>Source: Roanoke News, 11 January 1879.
