Lacy<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Though such an event was not unexpected, the many friends of <strong>Mrs. Mary R. LACY<\/strong> were greatly pained on yesterday to learn that their worst fears were realized, and that she had died in Baltimore on Wednesday night, at 9 o&#8217;clock. \u00a0Only one week ago she went to that city to consult with physicians as to her failing health, and soon after her arrival the worst symptoms developed in her case. \u00a0It is not our purpose to write a full tribute to the memory of this noble Christian woman, whose life has been one of such eminent usefulness. \u00a0Our whole community, and numbers of persons in our State, know of her great Christian worth and influence in her church and as an educator of the young.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Mrs. LUCY<\/strong> was the eldest daughter of the late eminent divine, <strong>Dr. Benjamin RICE<\/strong> of Princeton, New Jersey. \u00a0She was born in Virginia, and was in the sixty-first year of her age. \u00a0As soon as her death was known here the exercises at Peace Institute were suspended. \u00a0She had long been an honored and important member of the corps of teachers of that school. \u00a0Her remains are expected to arrive here this evening at 8 o&#8217;clock, on the Raleigh and Gaston train, accompanied by her children, and will be taken to Peace Institute. \u00a0The funeral services will take place tomorrow from the Peace Institute, the hour of which will be announced hereafter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><em>Source: Raleigh News and Observer, 17 September 1880.
