WALKER<\/strong> and <strong>Asa BOWEN<\/strong> (colored), became involved in a fight near town. \u00a0<strong>BOWEN<\/strong> struck <strong>WALKER<\/strong> with a stick, stunding him, and making an ugly and painful wound. \u00a0Said b at once come to town and had a warrant issues for the arrest of said <strong>BOWEN<\/strong> which was served by <strong>Deputy Sheriff TRUITT<\/strong> on Monday. \u00a0<strong>WALKER<\/strong> not being able to attend trial said<strong> BOWEN<\/strong> was required to give bond but failing to do so, was placed in jail until Wednesday at 10 o&#8217;clock when the case was again called. \u00a0The plaintiff still not being able to appear the case was dismissed by<strong> Justice ARMISTEAD,<\/strong> whereupon the attorney for plaintiff took an appeal to the Superior Court.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><em>Source: Roanoke Beacon, 26 July 1889. \u00a0Available online at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.digitalnc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">digitalnc.org<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Sunday last Jas.
