DIED A CENTURY OLD
Newbern Journal — Laner McRAY, a colored woman died at her home in Richardson’s alley in this city a few days ago at the extreme age of one hundred years, eleven months. She was well known in the city, having been nurse for a great many people who themselves are well advanced in years and to whom they are indebted for tender, watchful care.
She had fourteen children living, the youngest of whom is Miriam HODGES, age 52. She is survived by 49 grandchildren.
