DIED – In Madison, Rockingham county, on the 19th inst., of Typhoid Pneumonia, David R. ADAMS, a student at the “Beulah Male Institute,” in the 17th year of his age.

DIED – In this city, on Saturday the 19th instant, after a brief illness, Mr. John CROCKER, in the 27th year of his age.  He was one of the Commissioners of Raleigh.

Serious Accident (1859)

On Monday last, about one o’clock, P.M. the boiler of the steam engine attached to the saw mill of Mr. T.H. SNOW, near this place, exploded, wounding three of the negro men in charge quite seriously.  Luke, the property of Eldridge SMITH, was dangerously hurt; Elie, the property of B.F. MOORE, was badly hurt; also a boy named Henry.  Drs. HILL and E.B. HAYWOOD were called to the suffers.  Mr. SNOW’s loss is from $1,500 to $2,000.

We understand that Wm. S. BATTLE, Esq., of Rocky Mount, has purchased from Kemp P. BATTLE, Esq. of Raleigh, his Flag Marsh Plantation in this county, containing from 1100 to 1200 acres, together with fifty slaves, for $65,000. — Tarboro Southerner
