CRAVEN, M.J. (Mrs.) – (d. 1890)

Mrs. M.J. CRAVEN, wife of Wesley CRAVEN, of Naomi, Randolph county, was found dead in her bed Monday morning, the 12th inst. She retired Sunday night in usual health, and at what time she expired is not definitely known.

Charley Fields (1890)

Randolph can boast of a dwarf, who is eighteen years old, four feet high and weighs 77 pounds. His name is Charley FIELDS, his address is Red Cross, N.C. He ought to exhibit himself.

Jesse Lindsay Safe and Sound (1890)

It is reported that Jesse LINDSAY, the negro who was supposed to have been shot by Mr. Thomas J. FINCH, near the Randolph line a few weeks ago, escaped with a mere scratch and is now safe and sound in South Carolina.

LUTHER, Geo. – (d. 1890)

Murder in Randolph County — A murder was committed in Union township in this county on Saturday last between sunset and dark. The particulars are as follows: D.M. MILLER, went was heard to explain, “take Jim LUTHER off of me.” MILLER fired three shots at LUTHER, two to the residence of Geo. LUTHER, and had a scuffle with James LUTHER, in the doorway. MILLER of which took effect, either was sufficient to produce death. LUTHER died instantly. The supposed cause of the shooting MILLER made his escape. Four shots were fired at him. — Asheboro Courier.

T.L. Russell In Town (1890)

Mr. T.L. RUSSELL, of Randolph County, was in town the other day, buying tombstones for his three brothers who died before the war or during the war.

Luther, James – (d. 1890)

In Union township, Randolph county, N.C., D.H. MILLER killed James LUTHER, having shot him three times with a revolver in the doorway of George LUTHER‘s house after a quarrel and struggle.  There was a feud between MILLER and LUTHER, and MILLER had gone to George LUTHER’s house, which he was endeavoring to enter.  He made his escape just after LUTHER fell dead.  Four shots were fired at MILLER as he fled.

ROBBINS, Malinda (d. 1857)

DIED — In Randolph county on the 17th ult., after an illness of six days, Miss Malinda ROBBINS, youngest daughter of John and Rhoda ROBBINS, aged 17 years one month and one day.
